Authors’ Groups Fire Back At Anthropic Request To Delay AI Suit

A slate of authors’ groups urged the Ninth Circuit to reject Anthropic PBC’s request to delay a scheduled copyright trial to revisit an order certifying a class action against the AI company.

Anthropic’s argument that identifying each rightsholder in the approved class would create disputes over who owns the copyrights is a “red herring,” as authors and publishers have a “long and productive history of cooperation” to address digital piracy, groups including the Authors Guild said in a friend-of-the-court brief Thursday.
