AT&T, Nokia Owe $166 Million in Cell Phone Tower Trial Loss (1)

AT&T and Nokia of America Corp. owe $166.3 million for infringing two wireless-technology patents associated with cell phone towers, according to a Friday verdict delivered by jurors in East Texas.

Finesse Wireless LLC sued AT&T Mobility LLC and Cellco Partnership, which does business as Verizon Wireless, in 2021 for patent infringement based on a technique used in the telecom giants’ cell towers to screen out signal interference.

Verizon and its cell tower manufacturer, Ericsson Inc., settled while the case against AT&T and Nokia went to trial last week.
