Apple challenged U.S. Patent Nos. 9,402,032 and 9,857,568 at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board after it was sued by Corephotonics Ltd. The board found all the challenged patent claims were invalid because they were anticipated or obvious.
Corephotonics argued, in part, the PTAB didn’t perform the proper analysis of the motivation to combine existing references when considering obviousness. The Federal Circuit affirmed the board’s decisions in nonprecedential opinions, finding they were supported by substantial evidence. ...
