Apple Sued Again by NY Doctor to Preserve Watch Patent Damages

A New York cardiologist sued Apple Inc. again over Apple Watch heart-monitoring features to keep potential damages from expiring while he appeals his earlier patent infringement case’s dismissal.

Joseph Wiesel, who teaches at New York University School of Medicine, brought the protective lawsuit to preserve his ability to recover damages while the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit reviews an August 2025 ruling dismissing his December 2019 case.
