Apple Seeks to Stay Haptic’s Patent Lawsuit Over Phone Feature

Apple Inc. asked a California federal judge to pause proceedings in Haptic Inc.’s patent infringement suit over an iPhone shortcut feature until an administrative tribunal reviews the protected method’s validity.

Apple filed two petitions for inter partes review in September with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board challenging US Patent No. 9,996,738, at issue in the case, according to a motion to stay filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
