Apple Says Masimo Secretly Copied Watch Tech to Make a Rival (1)

Apple Inc. struck back at Masimo Corp. Thursday, alleging that the medical technology firm was “secretly copying” the Apple Watch while trying to block imports until Masimo’s own health-tracking watch could launch.

Masimo’s patent-infringement cases against Apple over technology that measures the amount of oxygen in the wearer’s bloodstream are pending in a California district court and at a US trade agency.

In two separate complaints in the US District Court for the District of Delaware, the Cupertino, Calif.-based tech giant said Masimo “hastily developed” its W1 watch during the litigation, part of “a more nefarious potential strategy” to bump ...
