A company affiliated with Swedish tech company Neonode Inc. sued
“Swipe-to-unlock,” “swipe typing,” and other finger-swiping functions in Apple’s iPhones and Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones allegedly infringe the patents.
Neonode Smartphone LLC owns U.S. Patent Nos. 8,095,879 and 8,812,993, invented by Neonode’s founder and used in its mobile phones. According to the complaint, the patented technology “enabled production of a phone small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and allowed the user to navigate menus and functions with simple finger-based taps and swipes.”
