Apple Questions Delays in Tossed $308-Million Patent Verdict

Apple Inc. sought to convince a three-judge Federal Circuit panel Thursday that a district court judge rightly tossed a $308.5 million patent infringement verdict due to delays in its application.

Personalized Media Communications LLC intentionally delayed its application for a patent on decryption technology so it could milk Apple for more money later, the tech giant’s attorney John C. O’Quinn of Kirkland & Ellis LLP argued to the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

The case is one of dozens of patent infringement lawsuits that Personalized Media has filed against companies including Google LLC and Netflix Inc.
