Apple Patent Case Transfer to California Stands Up at Fed. Cir.

The Federal Circuit rejected a patent owner’s request to keep its lawsuit against Apple Inc. in Waco, Texas, that a federal judge transferred to Northern California, citing the convenience of potential witnesses.

DoDots Licensing Solutions LLC, which owns patents covering technology for viewing content from the internet, sued Apple and Best Buy Stores LP in US District Court for the Western District of Texas. Judge Alan D. Albright, however, on July 25 granted Apple’s motion to move the the case over US Patent Nos. 9,369,545; 8,020,083; and 8,510,407 to California on convenience grounds.
