Apple Owes Spanish TOT Power $111 Million After Patent Verdict

Apple Inc. owes TOT Power Control SL $110.7 million for infringing a patent covering wireless communications systems by selling products that incorporated Qualcomm modems.

Judge Maryellen Noreika finalized a jury verdict awarding the damages in the form of a 25-cent-per-unit running royalty, in a judgment entered Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. A jury determined on Monday Apple infringed US Patent No. 7,532,865 but didn’t infringe US Patent No. 7,496,376.

Apple didn’t prove the ‘865 patent was invalid, according to the verdict.
