Apple Knocks Out Second Fintiv Mobile Payment Patent at Tribunal

Apple Inc. convinced an administrative tribunal to cancel a Fintiv Inc. mobile wallet tech patent related to federal lawsuits against the tech giant and PayPal Holdings Inc.

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board canceled all claims of Fintiv’s US Patent No. 10,223,692 because they were obvious in light of eight previously issued patents, according to a decision published Wednesday. The board canceled a related Fintiv patent in November following a challenge from Apple.
