Apple Infringed One of Three Qualcomm Patents, ITC Staff Says

International Trade Commission staff is recommending that Apple Inc. be cleared of infringing two of three Qualcomm Inc. patents.

ITC staff acts as a third party in cases, on the public’s behalf. An ITC judge isn’t required to follow staff’s recommendation, but it can be persuasive.

Qualcomm claims Apple infringes two patents for power supply and one for graphics processing. ITC staff recommends a finding of infringement of one power patent.

Judge Thomas Pender indicates he may find the other two patents are invalid, but said he wants to hear testimony first.
