Apple Infringed Messaging Tech in iPhones and iPads, Suit Says

Apple Inc. knowingly infringed patented technology for mobile chat applications with its iPhone and iPad devices, a federal lawsuit said.

The tech giant’s products “impermissibly usurp” the benefits of CText IP LLC’s innovations without proper compensation, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. The Texas-based plaintiff seeks court judgment Apple infringed two of its patents, as well as damages and post-judgment royalty fees.
