Apple, Google App Stores Targeted in Senate Antitrust Proposal

App store providers Apple Inc. and Alphabet Inc.'s Google would be subject to new rules under bipartisan legislation released Tuesday in response to concerns that the companies abuse their control over the market.

Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) plan to introduce the Open App Markets Act, Bloomberg Government has learned exclusively, reviving efforts to rein in the major tech companies they say have engaged in anti-competitive practices.
