Apple Can’t Escape Claim It Illegally Streamed ‘Austin Powers’

A claim that Apple Inc. illegally streamed the movie “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery” will move forward, according to an opinion and order from a New York federal court.

Ralph Hartmann, a German citizen who bought the film copyrights from a defunct production company, sufficiently alleged that he owns the copyrights and that Apple streamed the movie without his permission, U.S. District Court Judge Gregory H. Woods for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York wrote in an opinion and order.
