Apple Again Pushes Justices to Take Up Qualcomm Patent Rulings

Apple Inc. is doubling efforts to get the U.S. Supreme Court to review whether it can appeal patent board decisions that upheld certain Qualcomm Inc. patents, even as the justices already await the solicitor general’s views on the matter.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled in April that Apple, which licensed the Qualcomm patents at issue, needed to show it was involved in an ongoing “parallel” legal dispute involving those patents in order to have standing to appeal the Patent Trial and Appeal Board decisions to federal court.
