Appeals Court Vacates Reprimand in ‘Oasis’ Trademark Lawsuit

The Seventh Circuit vacated its public reprimand of a New York lawyer after she asked the appeals court for reconsideration, according to a federal court order.

The reprimand, which was filed in December, against Farva Jafri was vacated, according to an order from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. No other details were given.

Jafri was the attorney for Gary Chodes, the former CEO of Oasis Legal Finance Operating Co. LLC. Oasis was suing Chodes for trademark infringement over use of the “Oasis” mark. The parties settled the dispute, and the appeal was dismissed in December.
