Anker Patent Ineligibility Bid Fails in NEC Processing Dispute

Anker Innovations Technology Co. failed to convince a Texas federal judge that NEC Corp.’s object detection methods for video and image processing systems are not eligible for patent protection.

The asserted claims of US Patent Nos. 11,210,526 and 11,537,814 are directed at abstract ideas, but there are plausible factual allegations which prevent the court from finding the patents ineligible for protection at this stage. Judge Rodney Gilstrap filed his memorandum opinion and order Thursday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
