Anker Owes $13.6 Million for Infringing USB-Charger Tech Patents

Anker Innovations Ltd., a Chinese company whose sales of mobile-phone chargers on Amazon helped make it a global brand worth billions, owes a Texas-based firm $13.6 million after a jury found it infringed patents related to USB charging adapters.

Anker products including Type-A wall chargers, car chargers, Type-C wall chargers, power strips, desktop chargers, and power banks with plugs infringed Fundamental Innovation Systems International LLC’s US Patent Nos. 6,936,936, 7,239,111, 7,453,233, and 8,624,550, according to a verdict issued March 7 in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
