American Airlines Sues Delta for Infringing ‘Flagship’ Trademark

American Airlines claims in a new federal lawsuit that rival Delta infringed its series of “Flagship” trademarks.

American’s series of registered marks, which includes “Flagship,” “Flagship Lounge” and “Flagship Suite,” has described premium air travel services for first class and business class passengers since the 1930s, according to the complaint.

Delta, despite being aware of these marks, has begun using the term “flagship” to promote its own airport lounges and premium services and interiors, including its One Suite first class seating and its Premium Select seating, American says.
