American Airlines Sued Over Secure System Verification Patent

American Airlines Inc. was hit with a patent lawsuit accusing its website of infringing Secure Matrix LLC’s protected system verification technology.

The major US airline’s uses methods that infringe at least one of the claims described in US Patent No. 8,677,116, according to the complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Secure Matrix filed suit as an assignee of all rights to the ‘116 patent, issued in 2014, which covers computer systems and methods for authenticating a user who wants to conduct a secure online interaction, as according to the filing.
