Amazon’s Twitch, AWS Services Sued on Video-Streaming Patent (1)

Amazon.com Inc.’s lucrative cloud-computing and Twitch livestreaming units are targets of a patent-infringement lawsuit over video-streaming standards filed by an Israeli firm that imports and exports food.

The “majority of live broadcasts” on AWS and Twitch are powered by the technology described in BSD Crown Ltd.’s patent, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Norther District of California. Amazon, it says, provides livestreaming services for entities including the NFL, Viacom, the PAC-12 Conference, and Notre Dame.
