Amazon Wins as High Court Won’t Hear Patent Eligibility Case

The US Supreme Court won’t revive a patent suit against Amazon.com Inc. that was axed when a district judge deemed the patented inventions directed to improvements to TV program guides abstract and therefore not eligible for protection.

Patent owner Broadband iTV Inc. argued the district court erred when it axed the patents as ineligible ahead of trial, based in part on evidence the inventions in question relied on conventional server technology.
