Amazon Targets Phony IP Takedown Bids in ‘Novel’ Trio of Suits

Amazon.com Inc. filed three “novel lawsuits " targeting what it alleges are bad faith efforts to have seller content removed over sham violations of claimed intellectual property.

“Vivcic,” “Sidesk,” and “Dhuog” accounts in Amazon’s Brad Registry system sent thousands of fraudulent takedown requests accusing other sellers of trademark or copyright infringement , the online sales giant said in complaints filed Wednesday in the District Court for the Western District of Washington state. US and European applications for trademark registrations for those brands all have ties to China.
