Amazon Sues Influencers Over Alleged Counterfeit Sales Scheme

Amazon.com Inc. accused a pair of social media influencers in a lawsuit of evading the online retail gaint’s anti-counterfeiting mechanisms to help sell knockoff luxury fashion goods.

Kelly Fitzpatrick and Sabrina Kelly-Krejci allegedly used various sites to promote their scheme in which buyers nominally buy a non-branded, non-infringing item from the Amazon store but receive a fake designer product, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.
