Amazon Sued by ProHitter Maker Over Alleged Counterfeit Sales

Pro-Hitter Corp. sued Amazon.com Inc. in Manhattan federal court for allegedly selling counterfeits of its ProHitter baseball batting aid through Amazon services for used and third-party goods.

The ProHitter is worn on a batter’s thumb to improve grip technique and reduce sting, and Pro-Hitter—the company—says the product is used by the “overwhelming majority of Major League Baseball players.”

According to the Monday complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Amazon advertises ProHitters as “sold by” or “ships from and sold by” Amazon.com or Amazon.com Services LLC. Amazon also allegedly lists counterfeit ProHitters under the ...
