Amazon Sued by Chinese Mask Maker Over ‘Tag Along’ Listings (1)

Shenzhen Qianhai Phoenix Networks Co.—which sells a line of surgical-type face masks under the brand name Honrane—sued Amazon.com Inc. in Chicago federal court for allegedly allowing counterfeit sellers to “tag-along” to its authorized product listings.

“These counterfeit surgical-type masks are dangerous” in the coronavirus pandemic, “insofar as they are being misrepresented as having characteristics of the genuine product for which they are being confused,” the complaint says.”

Phoenix told the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Thursday that the listings cause consumer confusion and infringe its trademarks.
