Amazon Slips Streamer’s Infringement Suit With Invalidity Ruling

Amazon.com Inc. beat a streaming IP company’s infringement claims when a Texas federal judge ruledfive patents covering video-on-demand display features are ineligible for protection.

Citing the US Supreme Court’s two-part test laid out in Alice Corp. v. CLS Bank International, Judge Alan Albright of the US District Court for the Western District of Texas said Broadband iTV Inc.'s patent claims covered abstract ideas and failed to transform them into inventive concepts.
