Amazon Sellers Sue Competitor in Pet-Hair Rake Patent Dispute

Two China-based sellers on Amazon.com Inc.‘s marketplace told a federal judge Uproot Lint LLC unfairly had their product listings removed by falsely accusing them of infringing design patents.

Uproot filed two complaints with Amazon against Zhanhongtu E-Commerce Co. and Xinwangde Electromechanical Technology Co. in November over rakes used to remove pet hair from carpeting that they sold on the online marketplace, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida. The Chinese competitors said Uproot’s false reports alleged they infringed US Design Patent Nos. D1,009,393 and D1,041,113.
