Amazon Seller Owes $1.1 Million After ‘Baseless’ Patent Suit

An Amazon seller owes over $1.1 million in damages for infringing foam roller patents after a federal judge tripled the amount in part because the seller initiated litigation to circumvent Amazon’s internal patent-enforcement process.

PowX Inc. declared in court filings that it didn’t infringe Performance Solutions LLC’s patents while simultaneously seeking a licensing agreement with the company, demonstrating willful infringement, Judge Margaret M. Garnett said in a Tuesday order in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
