Amazon Loses Bid to Upend $30.5 Million Cloud-Tech Patent Award

Amazon.com Inc.'s cloud unit failed to overturn a $30.5 million patent verdict over networking technology, as a federal judge concluded the record supported the Delaware jury’s findings.

Judge Richard G. Andrews denied Amazon Web Services Inc.’s renewed bid for judgment as a matter of law or a new trial challenging a jury’s verdict that two of its cloud-based services infringed Acceleration Bay LLC’s since-expired patents, in an opinion issued Thursday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
