Amazon Licenses VideoLabs’ Patent Portfolio, Ends Litigation (1)

Amazon.com Inc. has agreed to license a basket of digital video patents to end ongoing litigation with VideoLabs Inc., a Silicon Valley company with a portfolio of what it calls “core patents” for video streaming technology, according to a statement on VideoLabs’ website and court filings.

The licensing deal came to light after the companies jointly asked US District Judge Alan Albright of the US District Court for the Western District of Texas to halt a lawsuit over Amazon’s refusal to negotiate over VideoLabs’ patent portfolio. That lawsuit has bounced back and forth between Albright and a Seattle federal court. ...
