Amazon Keeps Patent Board Wins in Dispute Over Kindle, Fire Tech

Amazon.com Inc. held onto a pair of administrative tribunal victories Wednesday when the Federal Circuit ruled that the Patent Trial and Appeal Board correctly wiped out two internet-of-things patents asserted against the e-commerce giant.

In a nonprecedential opinion, the court found that the M2M Solutions Inc. patents, which cover a “remote asset management system,” would’ve been obvious in light of previous designs.

“We have considered M2M’s remaining arguments but find them unpersuasive. For the foregoing reasons, the decision of the Board is affirmed,” Judge Alan D. Lourie wrote.
