Amazon Illegally Streamed ‘Austin Powers’ Claim Moves Forward

Amazon can’t escape a claim for allegedly streaming “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery” and several other films without permission from the German citizen who owns the films’ copyrights, according to a New York federal court opinion and order.

Ralph Hartmann sued Amazon.com Inc. and Amazon Digital Services LLC in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York for allegedly violating his copyrights for several films, saying Amazon reproduced digital copies of the films and made them available for streaming on its Prime Video platform without permission.
