Amazon, Google Wins Over Data Storage Patents Affirmed on Appeal

PersonalWeb Technologies LLC suffered two losses as the Federal Circuit affirmed a pair of trial court decisions freeing Amazon.com Inc., Alphabet Inc.'s Google, Facebook Inc., and others from patent infringement allegations.

In a precedential opinion, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upheld a decision of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California agreeing with Google LLC, YouTube LLC, Facebook, EMC Corp., and VMware Inc. that three PersonalWeb patents were invalid as abstract.
