Amazon Fights AlmondNet’s $87M Interest Bid in Ad Patent Suit

Amazon.com Inc. and two of its units told a Texas judge AlmondNet Inc. isn’t entitled to $87.61 million in prejudgment interest covering a 12-year time frame when it made a “tactical” decision to wait before filing its patent infringement lawsuit over targeted advertising methods and programs.

Amazon launched its Demand Side Platform product in August 2012, but AlmondNet waited until August 2021 to file its lawsuit, according to an opposition filing originally filed under sealed and made public Tuesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.
