Amazon Defeats Screenwriter’s Copyright Suit Over Horror Script

Amazon convinced a federal judge to dismiss a screenwriter’s suit alleging it and the production companies it worked with infringed the copyright to her script for a horror film that takes place on a college campus.

“No reasonable layperson would find the protectible elements of” Gabrielle Warner’s script The Board and Amazon’s movie Master, “to be substantially similar,” Judge Andrew L. Carter Jr., of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, said on Thursday.
