Amazon Avoids Discovery in Chinese Patent Litigation, for Now

A federal judge in Washington state rejected a Chinese company’s application to force Amazon to engage in discovery as part of a patent case before a court in China.

Beijing-based Sailed Technology Co. has sued Amazon 71 times, alleging nine Amazon products infringed its patents. The cases were consolidated before a specialized intellectual property court in Nanjing.

Sailed filed an application with the US District Court for the Western District of Washington in September to compel Amazon to produce information and sit for depositions.
