Amazon Accused of Copying Patents Through Alexa-Enabled Devices

Amazon.com Services LLC infringed a set of patents with sales of devices enabled to respond to voice commands through the company’s Alexa virtual assistant, according to a federal lawsuit.

Smart Speaker LLC said a long list of Amazon Echo products infringe US Patent Nos. 12,316,706, 12,010,174, 11,128,710, and 11,190,590, several of which describe systems and methods involving “captured human voice data,” according to a complaint filed July 11 in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
