Amazon Accused of Advertising ‘Fake Sale’ Prices for Fire TVs

Amazon.com Inc. deceptively advertises discounted Fire TV’s as a “limited time deal” when the products are actually on sale for longer periods, sometimes more than a year, a proposed class action alleged.

“Amazon led reasonable consumers to believe that they will get a discount on the Fire TVs they are purchasing if they purchase during the limited-time promotion,” according to the complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Western District of Washington. “In truth, however, the advertised price discounts are false and misleading because the items are on sale for more than 90 days at a time, ...
