Altria’s NJoy Seeks US Import Ban on Juul’s Rival E-Cigarettes

Altria Group Inc.’s NJoy LLC filed complaints against Juul Labs Inc. on Tuesday seeking a US trade agency’s order blocking imports of Juul’s e-cigarette devices and, in Delaware federal court, damages for alleged infringement of two patents.

In both complaints—one at the US International Trade Commission, another in the US District Court for the District of Delaware—NJoy alleges that Juul’s electronic nicotine delivery system, which comprises disposable “JUULpod” cartridges and the devices into which they’re inserted, infringes US Patent Nos. 10,334,881; and 11,497,864.
