Align Must Face Patent Infringement Suit Over AI Dental Software

Align Technology Inc. must face a lawsuit brought by software developer Dental Monitoring SAS, alleging the orthodontics company infringed its patented system for using artificial intelligence to cut down on visits to the dentist’s office.

Align moved to dismiss Dental Monitoring’s remaining direct infringement claims, after the court previously agreed to dismiss three other infringement claims earlier this month. But the US District Court for the Northern District of California declined Wednesday, saying Align should have raised its latest arguments in the earlier motion.
