Airplane Racer Sues Ubisoft for Allegedly Using Plane in Game

Ubisoft Entertainment was sued by airplane racer Bill Destefani in Los Angeles federal court for allegedly recreating his plane “Strega” in its racing game “The Crew 2" without permission.

Destefani has competed in dozens of air races over four decades with Strega, the Wednesday complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California says.

According to the complaint, “The Crew 2" allows players to race with a plane that is “virtually identical” to Strega in the game. The Ubisoft version allegedly depicts distinctive features of Strega including Destefani’s name and an Italian flag under the cockpit, ...
