The Senate on Thursday passed a measure that aims to curb the rise of unauthorized sexually explicit deepfakes, addressing a major bipartisan concern fueled by rapid advancements in artificial intelligence.
Senators unanimously approved the TAKE IT DOWN Act (S.146), which would criminalize the publication of non-consensual deepfake pornography. It would also require online websites to take steps to remove such content within 48 hours of request.
