A filmmaker and AfroPunk music movement founder sued his former business partner for breaching a 2010 agreement parsing intellectual property and royalty payments after they split.
James Spooner, who says he launched the movement with his 2003 documentary “Afro-Punk,” said Matthew Morgan failed his obligations after the co-founders of the first AfroPunk festival and AfroPunk LLC split, according to a complaint filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
