Advanced Bionics Keeps Cochlear Implant Patent Win at Fed. Cir.

An administrative tribunal rightly knocked out a patent asserted against cochlear implant maker Advanced Bionics LLC in a global dispute over the technology, an appeals court said Friday.

The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit summarily affirmed the Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s earlier decision that MED-EL Elektromedizinische Geräte Ges.m.b.H’s US Patent No. 7,267,847 is invalid, without explaining its reasoning for doing so.
