Adidas Suit Over Knockoff Jerseys Partly Survives Dismissal

Hall of Fame Sports Memorabilia Inc. convinced a federal judge to dismiss some of adidas America Inc.'s trademark infringement and counterfeiting claims over the retailer’s alleged sale of knockoff Real Madrid and Argentina soccer jerseys.

The claims were dismissed, with leave to amend, because adidas failed to include the trademark registrations that correspond with the “three-stripe mark” the brand accuses Hall of Fame of infringing, Judge Karin J. Immergut of the US District Court for the District of Oregon said in a Monday opinion.
