Adidas Sues Fashion Designer Over Three-Stripe Trademark

Adidas is suing a high-end fashion brand over its alleged trademark infringement of the sportswear company’s iconic three-stripe mark, according to a complaint filed in New York.

Adidas asked the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York for a jury trial over Thom Browne Inc.’s use of two-, three-, and four-stripe designs on its athletic apparel and footwear. Adidas said in the complaint that the designs are “confusingly similar iterations” of the Adidas mark.

Adidas, in the complaint, said its own three-stripe trademark on its shoes and clothing signifies the “quality and reputation” of the company.
