Adidas Sues California Clothing Brand Over Three-Stripes Use

Venice, Calif., clothing brand Aviator Nation allegedly infringes Adidas‘s three-stripe trademark by using similar designs on clothing, according to a complaint filed in Oregon federal court.

Adidas says it has been using the three-stripe mark since 1952, and owns federal registrations for it covering shirts, jackets, sweatpants, shorts, and other clothing in addition to its shoes.

The Dec. 17 complaint says that Adidas entered a settlement agreement with Aviator Nation in 2012 based on its use of a three-stripe design, and that Aviator Nation is infringing again by using three- and four-stripe designs on shirts, jackets, and shorts, among ...
