Adeia Patent Suit Targets Disney, Hulu, ESPN Streaming Services

The Walt Disney Co.’s streaming services including Disney+, Hulu, Hulu Live, and ESPN+ infringe combinations of six patents related to video-streaming technology, Adeia Inc. said in a federal lawsuit.

San Jose, Calif.-based Adeia, which licenses intellectual property in the media and semiconductor industries, seeks damages and an order blocking further unauthorized use of the inventions, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. Disney, which must answer the complaint by Dec. 2, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
